Day & Zimmermann has a proud history of service to our nation’s military, and we are privileged to have many veteran employees, now and in the past, who bring their experience, expertise and talents to our company. I want to thank all of our veterans for their service and thank veterans around the country for their service, sacrifice and dedication to our great country.
Each year there is a theme associated with Veteran’s Day and this year the theme is “Honor.” I can think of no better way to describe our veterans than to reflect on the honor they bring to our country, their families and themselves by their service. These brave women and men represent the best of us, and are a reminder that freedom is not free.
Particularly as we enter the holidays, please remember the sacrifice that our veterans have made, many times far away from their families, in harm’s way, to protect our freedoms. Their service is a debt that can never be repaid, and we should take this day to reflect on, thank and remember the veterans in our lives and around the country. We should also be aware of and look for ways to assist our veterans who may be struggling with physical or mental challenges.
Our Veteran’s Employee Resource Group (VERG), is open to anyone who would like to support our veterans. You don’t have to be a veteran or even know one to participate. Like our other employee resource groups, VERG is a great way for anyone to get involved, support, and learn, and I encourage you to find out more about this or any of our ERGs.
On Veteran’s Day this year, if you are comfortable doing so, I would also like to encourage our veterans to help us recognize and celebrate them by changing your Zoom background or wearing something to work (or on Zoom) that identifies your service. This way your coworkers can thank you for your service on this important day.
Thank you to all of our Veterans. Thank you for your service and the honor you bring to our company and our country.
