Energy industry leaders are bracing for a significant labor shortage that will have a significant impact on the maintenance and operation of U.S. nuclear power plants. According to the Nuclear Energy Institute , the energy industry will be forced to replace 100,000 retiring skilled workers by as early as next year, with 25,000 of those in nuclear power.
To fill the void, a new generation of workers will be entering the market largely comprised of millennials a group that includes individuals born in the period between the early 1980s and early 2000s. Studies and surveys have found that the professional wants and needs of millennials are changing the face of the traditional workforce and how companies approach recruiting, training, and talent development.
