Labor Day: Celebrating Our Workers, Past and Present

Labor Day in the US marks the unofficial end of summer. While many of us are busy getting kids back to school and enjoying the last few days of summer, it’s important to take a moment to remember the meaning behind the Holiday. It’s a time to celebrate the American workers, both past and present. The people, like you and your colleagues, and D&Z employees who have worked here in the past, who have contributed and continue to contribute to the building of this great nation.

In recent D&Z Proud articles, we focused on the rich history of Day & Zimmermann. Through the years, innovative and hard-working women and men of our company have built bridges, waterways, buildings, candy wrapping machines and many other engineering marvels. They have also maintained our power infrastructure, helped make chemical and medical breakthroughs, and protected our freedoms. These are just a few great examples of hard work that helped build and continues to drive our great nation.

From the Bensalem Bridge to the Lincoln Tunnel and the Panama Canal; none of these would be possible without a lot of blood, sweat and tears from diverse teams working together for a common goal. That’s the essence of our brand promise: We do what we say®. If we say we’re going to build it, fix it, maintain it, or provide the expertise needed – we do it. And many dedicated D&Z employees through the years have kept that promise.

I want to thank each of you for your continued hard work. I know that to many of you, holidays or seasons of the year don’t make a difference in how or when you work. You are hard at work whenever called upon, on guard, delivering quality service and working with our customers year-round to make sure we keep our brand promise. It’s the reason customers come back to us, and I appreciate all of your efforts. You are part of a great legacy of hard-working, proud D&Z employees.

Please enjoy a safe and happy Labor Day weekend.
