Technical expertise, welding and rigging partnerships, and a managed-task approach saved a customer more than $2 million on two challenging feedwater heater (FWH) replacements.
More than 1,500 feet of conduit were installed along with 32,000 feet of cable during a unit station service transformer and ground circuit breaker replacement project.
Day & Zimmermann (D&Z) provided management, supervision, and civil and electrical craft labor to install a 250-ton multiple-girder bridge crane at a nuclear power plant in 2015. The D&Z projects team as well as representatives from the utility received the Nuclear Energy Institute’s Top Industry Project (TIP) Maintenance Award for the innovative use of a gantry crane in the plant’s turbine building.
While most nuclear sites were on furlough over the 2016 holiday season, Day & Zimmermann personnel at one nuclear station were helping a utility respond to a catastrophic failure of one of its emergency diesel generators (EDG). The team rebuilt the entire EDG from the ground up in less than 62 days.
