"My mentors do a great job of assigning me projects suitable to my level of knowledge and skill, most of which are challenging enough to be educational and expand my knowledge without being so challenging that I feel lost and don’t know how to approach or complete them."
Quality Engineer Intern – Medium Caliber and Direct Fire Business Units – American Ordnance
I’ve worked four summer and one winter internships as a Quality Engineer with American Ordnance, totaling about 1 year and 2-3 months altogether.
Generally, my mentors assign me one or two large and several smaller projects to work on throughout the course of my internships. I have worked on several types of projects such as measurement analyses, first article acceptance test preparation and execution, nonconforming/reject material dispositioning, and assessing manufacturing equipment for process improvements to name a few.
Every time I have interned with American Ordnance it has been a positive experience. My mentors do a great job of assigning me projects suitable to my level of knowledge and skill, most of which are challenging enough to be educational and expand my knowledge without being so challenging that I feel lost and don’t know how to approach or complete them.
I applaud the efforts of D&Z for the ability to generate an inclusive, tolerant, and inviting culture that permeates and resounds so well within all branches and business groups. During my internships at American Ordnance I have met and interacted with employees at all levels ranging from the president of the company to hourly operators and they have all been welcoming and supportive. From day one, at no point has anyone ever made me feel like a temporary intern; instead, I come to work every day and feel like a valued, full-time member of the team.
