Day & Zimmermann's technical and professional knowledge and skill, combined with the government-owned resources at vast Army complexes, uniquely enables the company to manufacture munitions, as well as design, produce, install and commission the equipment and systems necessary to manufacture munitions. In addition, the company performs research and development.

Production Engineering: Day & Zimmermann's core expertise is production engineering, which is employed across a wide variety of conventional and precision weapons systems. 

Key Production Processes include explosive cast-loading processes, the traditional batch melt-pour method, high-rate continuous melt-pour systems, controlled cooling systems and volumetric injection units for forced cavity fill and riser volume reduction.

Pyrotechnic Facility: Day & Zimmermann's pyrotechnic facility houses the very latest technology for the preparation of various delay, flash and igniter mixes, and is also used to blend, cast load, and press insensitive explosives.

Explosive Testing: In support of Day & Zimmermann's load/assemble/pack (LAP) operations, the company maintains munitions test facilities used for both quality assurance and new product development testing. These tests are operated with a focus on safety and accuracy, protecting employees while providing customers with data about product performance.

Research & Development: Day & Zimmermann performs a variety of R&D work and has test fire facilities, as well as our own chemistry and metrology laboratories.
