Yoh Celebrates 64 Million Hours Without A Days Away From Work Incident

Why Be Safe program reinforces Yoh's commitment to safety at work and at home

Philadelphia, Pa—June 20, 2006— In honor of National Safety Month, Yoh, a leading provider of high-impact talent and outsourcing services, and a unit of Day & Zimmermann, announced it has achieved 64 million work hours completed over the course of six years without a days-away-from-work incident due to a work-related injury.

"Yoh proudly supports this year's National Safety Month by recognizing the need to promote safety awareness in all facets of our employees' lives, not just while they are at work," says Steven Young, National Safety Director for Yoh.  "It is important for all of our employees – both in our facilities as well as our customers' – to take a few minutes each day to recall the safety training and guidance they have received from Yoh and remember why it's important to practice safe behaviors both at work and at home. Especially given the fact that, according to the National Safety Council, off the job is where they are most likely to be injured."

During the month of June, Yoh will continue to demonstrate its commitment to protecting the health and wellbeing of its employees through the Why Be Safe program.  Created by Yoh in 2002, Why Be Safe promotes safety awareness by providing all employees with a comprehensive safety orientation, along with a library of safety tips and procedures to create and sustain a safety-conscious environment that will not be compromised for reasons of profit and productivity.  Information on a variety of work- and home-related hazards, as well as preventative measures, will be distributed across the country to all of Yoh's offices during National Safety Month, and posted on the Why Be Safe website, www.whybesafe.com.  Employees will be encouraged to share that information with their families and the thousands of contract professionals Yoh has placed in a variety of industries nationwide.

"We are very proud that Yoh has achieved an amazing 64 million hours of work without a days away from work injury," says Joseph J. Ucciferro, PhD, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Safety Council, and President and CEO of the Commercial and Public Sector businesses at Day & Zimmermann.  "But a culture of safety must go beyond that.  The highest performing safety and health environments also make a significant impact on employees' personal lives."

National Safety Month was created in 1996 by the National Safety Council to raise public awareness of safety and health risks, and ultimately decrease the number of accidental injuries and deaths. According to the National Safety Council, last year alone, the cost of all unintentional injuries, including lost wages and productivity, property losses, medical expenses, administrative expenses and employers' uninsured costs, was nearly $575 billion.  Inspired by the debilitating economic, medical, and personal effects of such injuries, Yoh relies on the personal commitment of each employee, as well as an active collaboration with its customers and the community, to make safety—at work, home, and on the road—a primary concern.
