Day & Zimmermann Acquisition of Atlantic Services Reshapes Power Services Market

Day & Zimmermann Power Services expands portfolio to include both union and open-shop maintenance and modification, as well as valve, condenser and radiological services

Philadelphia, Pa.—June 1, 2007— Day & Zimmermann Power Services, an industry-leading provider of plant maintenance and modification services to the power market, today announced the completion of the acquisition of Atlantic Services, Inc.  As a result of the acquisition, Day & Zimmermann owns two of the top companies in the power services market, with combined total annual revenue of nearly $800 million, clearly seating Day & Zimmermann Power Services as the No. 1 Power Operations and Maintenance Contractor nationwide, according to Engineering News Record’s annual rankings.

Through its two companies, Day & Zimmermann Power Services is now the primary service provider for nearly half of the country’s nuclear plants, offering a robust array of maintenance, modification, staff augmentation, construction, valve, condenser, and radiological services.

One of the companies, DZ Atlantic, will focus on open-shop services for nuclear and fossil-fired power plants nationwide. The other company, Day & Zimmermann NPS®, will continue to offer enhanced managed maintenance and modification services with a union labor posture.  Atlantic Union Resources Inc. (AURI), Atlantic’s former union business, has been fully integrated into Day & Zimmermann NPS®.

“Day & Zimmermann Power Services is bringing an unprecedented service offering to the power market,” says Joseph Ucciferro, President and CEO, Commercial & Public Sector for Day & Zimmermann. “Formed through the ownership of two companies with proven track records of supplying qualified, cost-effective labor, and maintenance and modification services to nuclear and fossil power customers, we can now provide a greatly expanded portfolio of services.  This puts more separation between Day & Zimmermann and our competitors, and helps power companies battle a significant shortage of workers. Our aim is to continue widening that gap by improving our services, and lowering the cost of ownership for the power industry.”

Michael McMahon, formerly president of Day & Zimmermann NPS®, has been named President of Day & Zimmermann Power Services and has led the transition of the Atlantic and AURI businesses.

Day & Zimmermann Power Services is an active member in the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), the American Nuclear Society (ANS), and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).
